College of Education & Public Policy Outstanding Alumni Awards

Selection Criteria:
This award annually honors a select few from among over 22,000 college alumni who through their achievements and commitment have made extraordinary contributions to the fields of human services, education and public policy. In evaluating nominees, a selection committee will consider the nominee's career achievements and accomplishments as well as his/her commitment and service to profession, community, and to the University of Delaware.

The College of Education and Public Policy is now accepting nominations for the 2010 Outstanding Alumni Awards. Renowned sociologist William Julius Wilson directs the Joblessness and Urban Poverty Research Program at the Malcolm Wiener Center for Social Policy.  He is the author of groundbreaking books on race and urban poverty including the recently published More than Just Race: Being Black and Poor in the Inner City.  Past president of the American Sociological Associtaion, MacArthur Prize Fellow from 1987-92, and recipient of the 1998 National Medal of Science, Wilson was selected by Time Magazine as one of America's 25 most influential people in 1996.
