Chocolate Truffle Class with D.C. Blue Hens

Thursday, March 22
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.

The Chocolate House  |  1904 18th St., NW, Washington, D.C. 20003

Cost: $35

This 2-hour hands-on class will give you the skills to work with chocolate in the kitchen as well as make classic hand-rolled chocolate truffles.

Working in groups of 2 or 3 you will choose your desired flavorings from seasonal fresh herbs and fine extracts and transform fine chocolate and fresh cream into hand-rolled truffles. Class instruction covers basic chocolate knowledge, infusing flavors into cream and chocolate, basic ganache-making and chocolate tempering.

Aprons are provided, but be aware that working with chocolate can be messy! Closed toe shoes are required. Refreshments will be provided.

Tickets typically cost $75 per person but thanks to funding from the UDAA, tickets are only $35!

Public Transportation: The Chocolate House is located half a mile away from DuPont Metro station on the red line.

Registration closes at noon on March 22. Unfortunately, walk-ins will not be permitted.

UD in D.C.: The Role of Media in Today's Political Climate

Learn what is and is not taboo to talk about in the media today, how to strategically navigate the political landscape and the role persuasion plays in political discourse. This exciting evening will be held at the iconic National Press Club and hosted by UD’s Washington, D.C. Alumni Club and The Center for Political Communication.

Boston Celtics vs. Washington Wizards Basketball Game

Tuesday, April 10

Cost: $39 (includes game ticket & Wizards t-shirt)
Tickets will be distributed via email about 24 hours before game time.

Join your fellow UD alumni to cheer on the Washington Wizards! Tickets are in the 400 section of the arena. Each ticket includes a Wizards t-shirt, to redeem please go behind section 400 or 417 to see a Wizards rep at our CustomInk t-shirt table.

Refund deadline is Tuesday, March 27.

Getting There: Capital One Arena is located near Gallery Place/Chinatown metro (Red Line).

Blue Hens at the Ballpark: Phillies @ Nationals

Cost: $29; food & drink are additional

Join your fellow Blue Hens to watch the 2017 NL East champion Washington Nationals take on the Philadelphia Phillies. Tickets are in section 202 behind 3rd base.

The Navy Yard-Ballpark station on the Green Line is the closest Metro stop.

Join a Committee

The UD DC Alumni Club is growing and we need your help! For those of you that want to help but don't have a lot of time, we've created two committees: the Social Committee and the University Committee. The Social Committee will help plan and run happy hours, game watches, cultural and similar events. The University Committee will help with our new community service and other UD engagements.

Committees are the easiest way to bring new ideas to the club as our membership is rapidly growing. If you have an interest, please email alumnet@udel.edu.

Coach's Corner

The DC Club offers its members the unique opportunity to compete in co-ed social sports leagues throughout the year. These leagues provide an excellent opportunity to meet and mingle with other local DC Blue Hens. All leagues are part of the Capital Alumni Network (CAN, www.dcalum.org) in which our opponents are local alumni representing other schools from all over the country. The club competes in all five CAN sports leagues:

  • Flag Football; September-December
