DC Alumni Club Spring Sports!
Have fun and rekindle your UD team spirit with the DC Alumni Club’s spring sports! Both softball and soccer begin competition in late March/early April and the seasons span into July and August. Soccer is played on one of two school fields in DC and softball is played on the National Mall in the shadow of the Washington Monument.
The level of competition in both sports is mildly competitive, so don’t feel you need to be a sports star to come out and join in the fun.
The leagues are a great way to meet with other DC-area Blue Hens, have fun (some folks don’t even play, they just come out to hang out), and rekindle your UD team spirit!
If you are interested in either (or both) sports, please contact UD-DC Sports Chair Billy Kinberg at billyk34@yahoo.com. Registration deadlines for the teams are March 4 for soccer and March 18 for softball, so let us know right away if you want to play.
The UD-DC-Club offers its members the unique opportunity to compete in co-ed social sports leagues throughout the year. These leagues provide an excellent opportunity to meet and mingle with other local DC Blue Hens. All leagues are part of the Capital Alumni Network (CAN, www.dcalum.org) in which our opponents are local alumni representing other schools from all over the country. UD-DC competes in all five CAN sports leagues, which include:
· Volleyball; January — March
· Basketball; January — March
· Soccer; April — August
· Softball; April — August
· Flag Football; September — December
All sports leagues are mildly competitive, and athletes of all ages and abilities are welcome to join. These leagues are very inexpensive and provide the thrill and camaraderie of playing for your alma mater.
