Winterthur-Art-Conservation-(1).jpgJoin the UD College of Arts & Sciences, Blue Hens and friends for this insider’s look at Winterthur Museum with special access to staff, students and parts of this national treasure that the public doesn’t usually get to experience, including the Art Conservation Labs and Library/Special Collections!

  • Learn about the internationally known University of Delaware/Winterthur graduate programs in American Material Culture and Art Conservation. Meet students and find out about their research.
  • Tour parts of Winterthur not usually open to the public: Art Conservation Labs and Library/Special Collections
  • Experience guided tours of the collection led by Material Culture students
  • Learn about a new exhibit curated by UD graduate students: “Truths of the Trade: Slavery and the Winterthur Collection.” Tracing paths of trade from Africa, North America, the Caribbean, and Europe...a newly acquired cabinet at Winterthur emerges as a tool in the lucrative business of moving commodities, including people, around the world in the 18th and 19th centuries. Reimagine objects associated with and representative of the Transatlantic Slave Trade from Winterthur's collections.
  • Finish the day with a walking tour of the new “Follies: Architectural Whimsy in the Garden” exhibit or visit the museum on your own, including “Dining by Design: Nature Displayed on the Dinner Table."

Refund deadline is April 16 at 4:00 p.m.
