Virtual Networking Events Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about Blue Hen Virtual Networking? Find your answer below.

How do I sign up for the event?

Visit the Blue Hen Virtual Networking Events page to see upcoming events. Sign up by creating a profile or using your existing LinkedIn account.

Do I need LinkedIn to participate?

No, you do not need to have LinkedIn to participate. Registering with LinkedIn is an alternative to creating an account so that you don’t have an additional email/password combination to remember.

Will I get a reminder?

When you sign up for the event, you will receive a confirmation e-mail. You will also receive a reminder email prior to the event. Be sure to check your junk mail for these e-mails.

Can I get in multiple lines at once?

You can wait to chat in multiple booths at one time. You will be placed into the first available chat. Once you are in a chat, your position in the other booths will be held while you are chatting.

Can I choose who I chat with?

Chats are paired randomly within whatever booth(s) you have selected. If you do not feel that you have anything to talk about with the person you are paired with, you can politely excuse yourself and move onto the next chat.

What do I do when I am connected with someone?

Make the best use of your time and start chatting right away! After introducing yourself, you can ask some starter questions like:
o    What did you study at Delaware?
o    What do you do professionally?
o    What are you looking to provide or gain from this conversation?
o    Can I ask for your advice on ____?
o    If you could do one thing differently in your career, what would it be?
o    What's the best piece of advice you received during your college career?
o    What do you love most about your job/company? What do you like least about it?
o    What is the best interview question you ever heard asked of a candidate? Why did you like it?
o    What is the best question you ever heard a job candidate ask? What did you like about it?

Can I extend my chat time?

All chat times are set. These events are designed to expand your network. Make great introductions during your chat, but plan for more in-depth discussions during your follow-up conversations.

Can others see my transcripts or conversation ratings?

After each chat, you will be asked to score your interaction and provide some notes to help you remember your conversation when the event is over. Those scorings and notes are completely private, only visible for you to see when you log into the Brazen platform. In addition, you will be able to see your complete transcript of each conversation.

How will I know about the next event?

Blue Hen virtual networking events occur on a monthly basis. Visit the Blue Hen Virtual Networking Events page to see upcoming events. The Office of Development and Alumni Relations will also be sending emails to alumni who match the target markets for these events (by major and geographical region). If we do not have your updated email and/or location, fill out this form to send us your information.

How can I share my opinion about the event?

You will receive a brief survey via e-mail after the event. You can also e-mail zcorbin@udel.edu if you have any further comments or questions.
