The Gold Guard is the select group of graduates that have been alumni for 50 years or more. Each year, the 50th reunion class is inducted into the Gold Guard and they are celebrated with special programming.

About String Theory
String Theory has performed at past Alumni Weekend Gold Guard programs. String Theory is a seven-member band, with most of the musicians serving as music instructors at the University of Delaware’s Osher Life Long Learning Institute. Their standard repertoire includes Celtic and Appalachian fiddle tunes, however they also explore material from Eastern Europe and Scandinavia as well. Although their name suggests a string band, String Theory also featured “honorary” string instruments such as a concertina, flute, accordion and a variety of percussion. Most of the band members are multi-instrumentalists and typically play at least ten instruments during a concert.
