On Saturday July 14, 2012, over 20 UD Alumni of the Nu Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity gathered with family and friends for the inaugural Nu Xi Alumni BBQ at Glasgow Park in Bear, Delaware.

Brothers gathered and shared many fond fraternal and University of Delaware memories over barbeque and field games. Fraternity attendees ranged in pledge classes from 1989-2009 and UD graduating classes of 1993-2012.

Event coordinator, Earl Shorter AS96, was pleased with the attendance and is already looking for ways to expand the event next year during UD Alumni Weekend. "It was so great to reconnect with old friends from UD for an afternoon of food, fellowship and fun," says Shorter.

Kappa Alpha Psi was founded in 1911 and its Nu Xi chapter was chartered at University of Delaware in 1989. Formed in the early 1900s to encourage college attendance and achievement among African American men, the fraternity and its Nu Xi chapter at UD “raise the sights of black collegians and stimulate them to accomplishments higher than they might have imagined.”

Alumni affinity groups plan dozens of events throughout the year on UD campus and across the country. Affinity reunions are a fun way for UD alumni and students of specific UD colleges, majors, clubs, sports and organizations to reunite and network.

From the Honors Alumni Club to the Greek Alumni Association, UD Marching Band Alumni to the Black Alumni Organization, there are dozens of Alumni affinity groups with which you can get involved. Click here to learn more about the many alumni affinity groups at UD.
