UD Engineers Without Borders is a student run organization whose mission is to provide sustainable solutions in developing communities around the world.
Students find problems in developing communities and offer their time, money and skills to finding a sustainable solution to the problem. Guided by faculty and professional mentors, EWB-UD currently has two projects: a water project in Cameroon and a bridge project in Guatemala. For more information, visit the EWB-UD website.
One of the main obstacles that the students face when working on these projects is raising the money for the materials and the travel to and from the countries in which they work. From this issue arose the idea to hold an annual banquet and silent auction to raise funds. The first annual EWB-UD Banquet and Silent Auction, held last spring, was very successful, and EWB-UD is looking forward to adding to the success this year! This year the banquet will be held in a different location and the presentations will be revamped, including an update on recent trips, so that banquet attendees from last spring will still find lots of new information and entertainment this year.
Make sure to save the date for the College of Engineering Alumni Association Reception on Friday, June 4 at UD Forum & Reunion Weekend. For details visit the UD Forum & Reunion Weekend 2010 web site.
